The NFL was shaken up on Wednesday when Aaron Rodgers's positive COVID-19 test revealed the reigning MVP wasn't vaccinated, despite him stating the contrary back in training camp.

Rodgers will have to spend a minimum of 10 days on the reserve/COVID-19 list, meaning he won't be eligible to return to the Packers until late next week at the earliest.

For at least this week, Green Bay will turn to former first-round pick Jordan Love against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Betting Line Movement for Packers vs Chiefs Because of Aaron Rodgers' COVID Status

As one would expect, losing the reigning MVP caused a huge shift on both the spread and total for this weekend's Packers-Chiefs game.

Impact Against the Spread with Aaron Rodgers Ruled Out:

The Packers opened this week as 3.5-point underdogs on the road in Kansas City. That line has now shifted by four points and the Chiefs currently sit favored by 7.5 points ahead of the weekend.

  • Kansas City is just 2-6 against the spread this year, but did cover a 7.5-point spread against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.
  • The Packers are 7-1 against the spread this season and have won outright in their two games as underdogs.

Impact against the Total with Aaron Rodgers Ruled Out:

No Rodgers also impacted the total which opened at 54 points, but now sits at 48 points.

  • Even with Rodgers, the under has hit in each of the Packers last five games and six of their eight games this season.
  • The Chiefs haven't covered an over since Week 5.

Jordan Love Prop Bets

With Rodgers out on Sunday, second-year QB Jordan Love will make his first NFL start. Love has thrown just seven passes in his career, all of them coming in garbage time during the Packers' Week 1 loss to the Saints.

  • On BetMGM, Love's passing yards line is sitting at 232.5, with an over on 1.5 touchdowns paying out at +135.
  • If you feel more confident in Love throwing an interception, you aren't alone; BetMGM is paying out just -225 for Love to throw a pick.
  • Defensively, the Chiefs have struggled all season, allowing multiple touchdowns to six of the eight quarterbacks they've played this season.
  • Kansas City has intercepted at least one pass in each of the last three games.
