Much of the news this week revolves around the health of quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers is on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Kyler Murray is expected to be a game-time decision, Jameis Winston is done for the season and Tyrod Taylor could play for the first time since Week 2 this weekend.

With a number of veterans on the reserve/COVID-19 list and the Injured Reserve, it is imperative teams keep their 53-man rosters as healthy as possible. Here is a look at who has been absent at practice this week and what it could mean for their teams come Sunday:

Sam Darnold is firmly questionable after spending most of the week in concussion protocol. He has struggled mightily against the Patriots in his career, completing just 53 percent of his passes against Belichick's defense and throwing just one touchdown and six interceptions in three starts.

If Darnold is out, the Panthers will ride with P.J. Walker under center. The former Temple Owl made one start last year and completed 70 percent of his passes in a win over Detroit.

However, Walker hasn't played well in relief of Darnold this season, completing just three of his 15 pass attempts and taking three sacks.

Christian McCaffrey could return from the IR this week, but don't expect his usual workload if he is active. Matt Rhule has stated his franchise running back will split touches with Chuba Hubbard and Royce Freeman in an effort to keep him healthy.

Dawson Knox will miss his second-straight game after breaking his hand in Week 6. Tommy Sweeney will start at tight end after catching three passes for 30 yards against Miami last week.

– With Jon Feliciano out at left guard, expect Ike Boettger to get his second start this season. Boettger started in Feliciano's spot in Week 4 and again last week. He's allowed just two pressures and zero sacks in those contests.

– Star running back James Robinson is questionable, although his limited participation on Friday is certainly a good sign that he is making progress and could return on Sunday.

The Jaguars do have Carlos Hyde waiting in the wings if Robinson can't go on Sunday, but the most likely outcome is the duo splitting reps. Hyde has been a replacement-level back for most of his career and is averaging 4.2 yards per carry this season.

– The Giants wide receivers are still banged up, although Kadarius Toney doesn't carry an injury designation this week and Kenny Golladay is “questionable” for the first time since getting hurt in Week 5.

However, Sterling Shepard will be absent again. Despite playing just five games, Shepard leads the Giants in targets, catches and trails only Toney in receiving yards.

Danielle Hunter is done for the year after suffering a pectoral injury last week. D.J. Wonnum will start in his spot after the Vikings struck out at making a deadline deal for a pass rusher.

Patrick Mekari is also expected to be out after injuring his ankle in Week 7. The right tackle was replaced by Tyre Phillips against Cincinnati.

– No Garrett Bolles means Calvin Anderson will start at left tackle against Dallas. Anderson has one career start at the position, allowing two quarterback hits in the loss to Carolina.

– The Broncos pass rush is really thin, especially if Malik Reed is ruled out on Sunday. With Von Miller now a Ram and Bradley Chubb not expected to return until Week 12 or so, Stephen Weatherly and Jonathon Cooper could get a lot of snaps on Sunday.

Weatherly has one sack and Cooper has contributed eight pressures this season.

Dak Prescott will return after missing last week due to a calf injury. The Broncos are fourth in the NFL in passer rating allowed, but the lacking of edge rushers should make Prescott's return a little easier.

Tyron Smith will be out after suffering an ankle injury against Minnesota last week. Ty Nsekhe replaced him on Sunday night, although Terence Steele and La'el Collins could also get the start on against Denver.

Steele has spent most of the season as the right tackle, so if he moves over, Collins would probably start on the right side.

– The Chargers will be without both of their top cornerbacks on Sunday after Asante Samuel Jr. and Michael Davis were injured last week. With Chris Harris Jr. doing most of his work out of the slot, Tevaughn Campbell and Ryan Smith should start on the outside.

– It is also worth noting Justin Herbert showed up on the injury report this week with an injury on his throwing hand. The second-year QB has struggled with his accuracy in recent weeks, completing just 54 percent of his passes in the last two games.

Since his three-game run where he averaged over 300 yards per game and threw 11 touchdowns, Herbert hos thrown just three touchdowns and three interceptions in a pair of losses.

Sanders wasn't missed last week when the Eagles ran for over 200 yards in their win in Detroit. Expect a heavy dose of Boston Scott and Jordan Howard to complement Jalen Hurts in the rushing attack. Los Angeles has the worst run defense in the NFL this year, allowing 5.1 yards per carry.
