  • 64.3% of the Pittsburgh points this season have been scored in the second half, the highest rate in the league.
  • The Steelers have led for 19.8% of their offensive snaps, ahead of only the Lions (15.8%), Jets (8.9%), and Jaguars (8.4%).
  • The -44-point differential for the Steelers is the lowest of all teams with a winning record.
  • The Chiefs are the only team in the league to convert over 50% of their third downs (52.7%).
  • Kansas City has also turned 30.1% of their first and second down plays into a first down or touchdown, the highest rate in the league.
  • Pittsburgh has turned 23.0% of their first and second down plays into a first down or touchdown, 30th in the league.
  • The Steelers have allowed a league-high 1,038 yards on carries of 10 or more yards.
  • Pittsburgh has been outrushed 907 yards to 332 yards over their past five games.
  • The Chiefs lead the league in percentage of yards to come after the catch (55.6%).

Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes: Mahomes got out of the blocks slow last Thursday, leaving us to question if this Kansas City offense could only light up the Raiders. Then Mahomes and the offense caught another gear in the fourth quarter and overtime as he connected on 11-of-18 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns after 207 yards and zero touchdowns through three quarters.

With 29.6 fantasy points, it is the first time Mahomes has posted back-to-back QB1 scoring weeks since the opening four weeks of the season.

The Kansas City situation is setting up to be pretty fluid at the start of the week as they are in the midst of a COVID outbreak. As of right now, both Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill are on the COVID list, who account for 50% of the team targets, 49.7% of the receptions, 54.1% of the receiving yardage, and 53.3% of the receiving touchdowns. Needless to say, if both are absent that it changes the outlook for this offense and Mahomes a great deal.

The new rules give hope that one or both can get cleared by the end of the week, but we will have to sit on our hands for now until we have clarity on who will be available. At this rate, we may even see this game moved. Circle back here as more information becomes available but prepare to have a pivot early in the week as a contingency for the worst news.

The Steelers are allowing 7.3 yards per pass attempt (23rd), but just a 4.1% touchdown rate (11th) to keep them in check in allowing 13.8 passing points per game (ninth).
