Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Kirk Cousins (TRUST): Cousins has been up and down to open the year, closing as the QB11, QB26, QB9, QB22, and QB5 through five weeks.
The change over under Kevin O’Connell has been intriguing so far as there are a lot of positives. 41.4% of Cousins’s pass attempts have come on first down, the fifth highest rate in the league. Cousins is using play-action on 32.5% of his dropbacks, which is eighth in the league.
But Cousins also is dead last in the NFL in depth of target (6.1 yards downfield) and rate of deep pass attempts (4.5%) as Minnesota has been a passing offense predicated on paper cuts and sustaining long drives over creating shot plays.
Miami can aid that cause as they are allowing 12.1 yards per completion (25TH) and 8.2 yards per pass attempt (29th) to go along with a 4.6% touchdown rate (23rd). Miami has allowed three top-10 quarterbacks. To at least be fair to them, those have been Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow.
Chasing spike weeks from Cousins has left us high and dry plenty of times in the past, but this is a spot where he carries an objectively good outlook as a QB1 option.
