Quarterback
Geno Smith: Geno and this passing game immediately recovered after falling apart in the second half of Week 1.
Against Detroit on Sunday, Smith connected on 32-of-41 (78.0%) passes for 328 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He added another 20 rushing yards.
Down both starting tackles, Smith was pressured on 34.1% of his dropbacks and had a clean pocket on 52.3% of his dropbacks (25th).
When he was clean, he was squeaky clean. Without pressured, Smith was 25-of-29 (86.2%) for 262 yards (9.0 Y/A).
Carolina has gotten off to a unique start rushing the passer. They are third in the NFL in sack rate (12.7%) but are currently 31st in pressure rate (23.4%).
The Panthers have opened the year sixth in passing points allowed per attempt (0.292), but also have drawn Desmond Ridder and Derek Carr to kick off the season.
The implied offensive environment is not as strong as it was last week for potential fireworks, but Smith and this passing game bought back some good faith to handle him as a high-end QB2.
