Quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa (TRUST): As great as Tua’s entire body of work looks on the surface, he has weeks as QB26 and QB18 in two of his four starts surrounding the QB1 and QB2 scoring weeks.
He has contributed to winning two weeks outright but then has been in the back half of weekly scoring the other two weeks.
If the Giants want to play Miami aggressively, this is a week to play for the upside again.
The Giants are blitzing at the second-highest rate in the league (50.4% of dropbacks).
Against the blitz this season, Tagovailoa is 23-of-34 (67.6%) for 260 yards (7.6 Y/A) with four touchdowns. His 129.5 rating against the blitz is third in the NFL.
When teams blitz Tua and do not create pressure, he is averaging 9.3 yards per pass attempt.
If the Giants decide to change course and play coverage, they have to get pressure without sending extra defenders since Tagovailoa is also averaging 10.3 yards per pass attempt when he is not pressured.
If the Giants can get pressure then they at least can get in the way of slowing this passing game down. When Tua has been pressured, he is completing 42.9% of his passes.
Regardless of what the Giants are doing, they are still 21st in the league in passing points allowed per attempt (0.332).
The one thing saving the New York pass defense is that they are facing the fifth-fewest attempts since they have been flooded three of the four opening weeks.
