Quarterback
Jared Goff (TRUST): Goff is thought of as a safe fantasy asset, but he has been more of an all-or-nothing option this season.
He has weeks as QB3, QB3, and QB8 but also four weeks as QB18 or lower.
Goff has scored below his average entering each of the past two matchups against the Ravens and Raiders, but this is a week to play for his upside in a potential shootout.
The Chargers have had a nice reprieve the past two weeks against Tyson Bagent and Zach Wilson, but this is still a defense that has to prove it can slow down a competent offense.
Tua Tagovailoa, Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, and Kirk Cousins all logged top-five scoring weeks against the Chargers.
The only passers that have held below 7.0 Y/A have been Aidan O’Connell, Wilson, and Bagent.
Even factoring in those passers, the Chargers are 31st in the NFL in yards allowed per pass attempt (7.9 Y/A) and are allowing 17.0 passing points per game (29th).
Los Angeles is playing zone coverage on 75.2% of their snaps (10th) and Cover-6 on a league-high 23.1% of snaps.
Against Cover 6, Goff has completed 80.0% (40-of-50) of his passes, which is only behind Mahomes.
Against zone coverage in general, Goff’s 100.5 rating is second in the NFL. 11 of his 12 touchdown passes have come against zone coverage.
