Quarterback

Jake Browning: Last week, we talked about how Browning was solid in his first career start. Monday night, he followed that up with one of the strongest performances of Week 13.

Browning connected on 32-of-37 passes (86.5%) for 354 yards (9.6 Y/A) with a touchdown, adding 22 yards and a rushing touchdown to his line.

Browning is averaging 0.467 passing points per attempt over his 77 throws the past three weeks. That would be good for QB8 over the full season.

While we are working with a small sample size that can come down, we also do not have to go wild with Browning overall. He can be used as a floor-based QB2 with upside based on the surrounding talent he has.

The Colts are a passive defense. They are 25th in the league in terms of pressure rate (32.3%). They blitz just 18.2% of the time (29th) and play man coverage at the lowest rate in the league (8.2% of passing plays).

When Browning has not been pressured, he has completed 50-of-60 passes (83.3%) for 8.2 yards per pass attempt.

The Colts play Cover-3 on 52.3% of passing plays, which is second in the league.

This has given Browning the most trouble with his limited sample.

Against Cover-3, he has completed 13-of-21 passes (61.9%) for 154 yards (7.3 Y/A) with an interception (64.4 rating).

As a whole, the Colts are now fourth in the NFL in passing points allowed per attempt (0.353) and are eighth in passing points allowed per game (12.1).
