Welcome to Week 8 of The Worksheet, a comprehensive fantasy football preview, by Rich Hribar.
What is The Worksheet from Rich Hribar?
The Worksheet is a comprehensive weekly fantasy football preview for each NFL game. Rich Hribar analyzes the matchup for every notable fantasy player for every game every week of the NFL season.
We are officially in Week 8 and heading downhill for the fantasy regular season in most leagues.
This season has been a war of attrition unlike any other.
Even when we got a few names back last week (Malik Nabers, Anthony Richardson, and Nick Chubb) and are expecting a few more back this week (Cooper Kupp and T.J. Hockenson), we had another injury-filled weekend to get through.
Jayden Daniels only played one drive on Sunday and is considered week-to-week with a rib injury.
DK Metcalf injured his MCL and is also week-to-week.
Brandon Aiyuk was lost for the season with an ACL injury.
Chris Godwin suffered a serious ankle injury in a lost game and will likely miss the rest of the season.
Mike Evans aggravated his hamstring and is expected to miss time.
Deebo Samuel and DeMario Douglas were sick and could only briefly appear on Sunday.
JuJu Smith-Schuster left the game almost immediately on Sunday after aggravating his hamstring.
Aidan O’Connell suffered a broken thumb that will sideline him for 4-6 weeks.
Deshaun Watson suffered an Achilles injury that will end his season.
As a result, Week 7 fielded some of the worst offensive play of the year.
The 198.0 passing yards per team were the fewest since Week 1.
The 8.0% sack rate was the highest since Week 3.
Teams converted a season-low 36.3% of their third downs.
Offenses scored 20.5 points per game, the fewest since Week 2.
All we can do is endure and survive.
Even though gamers across leagues are dealing with a number of injuries, there are at least no teams on bye this week to further thin out availability.
We also do not have an international game this week, so this is as “normal” of a week as we have had since the season's opening month.
