Divisional Round Prediction: Joe Mixon Less Than 58.5 Rushing Yards

Before the final drive against the Chargers last week, Joe Mixon had just 46 rushing yards on 15 attempts (3.1 YPC).

Thanks to a massive 25-12 blowout lead, the Texans force-fed Mixon on the final drive of the game.

He logged 10 rushes totaling 60 yards on that drive alone to push him to a full game total of 106 yards.

Unfortunately for him, he also was injured and he missed practice time this week.

He practiced in a limited fashion on Wednesday and did not practice at all on Thursday, the final tune up for this game.

In his four games before last week, he didn't top 57 rushing yards in any game, posting YPC averages of 1.9, 4.1, 2.9, and 4.6 yards.

One of those games was against this Chiefs run defense, which held Mixon to 57 rushing yards on 14 attempts despite one of those attempts recording 22 yards.

The Texans have been leaning to a more pass-heavy approach to close out the season.

In fact, they have the NFL's No. 3 highest pass rate in the second half of the season when looking at the first three quarters of games.

With the Chiefs allowing a second-best 3.8 YPC to running backs, it will take many attempts to exceed this rushing total, and I don't think the Texans will be able to afford that many plays with a low-ceiling outcome.
