There wasn't much drama in Week 7 as six teams enjoyed a bye week and only one game on Sunday even finished with a margin within one possession.
However, with the trade deadline fast approaching, a lot of teams are taking stock of their current rosters and as COVID-19 continues to hamper numerous teams, it's worth looking at where the health of these teams stand heading into Week 8:
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals activated Chandler Jones and Zach Allen off the reserve/COVID-19 list. Additionally, Kliff Kingsbury has been cleared to return to work ahead of the Cardinals' Thursday night game against the Packers.
Meanwhile, both DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) and J.J. Watt (shoulder) were considered non-participants in the Cardinals' estimated practice report on Monday. However, there shouldn't be any concern about their availability against the Packers.
Atlanta Falcons
A.J. Terrell suffered a neck injury on Sunday and was replaced by T.J. Green in the lineup for the rest of the game. Despite not getting an official update from Arthur Smith, the head coach sounded optimistic about the health of his secondary as a whole.
According to Pro Football Focus, Terrell is the only cornerback in the NFL to not allow a catch in at least 50 snaps of man coverage.
Baltimore Ravens
Right tackle Patrick Mekari suffered a high-ankle sprain on Sunday although John Harbaugh didn't seem interested in giving an update on his condition Monday.
With Mekari out against the Bengals, Tyre Phillips filled in and allowed three pressures. Phillips started the season as the Ravens left guard, but lost his job to Ben Powers while on the IR.
Buffalo Bills
Dawson Knox suffered a broken hand on Monday Night Football last week and underwent successful surgery during the bye week. As a result, he is expected to miss at least three more weeks.
The Bills will start Tommy Sweeney at tight end on Sunday. He has four catches for four yards this season. He did gain 114 yards as a rookie on eight catches in 2019.
Carolina Panthers
John Miller suffered an ankle sprain on Sunday and is a candidate to join the IR. Trent Scott filled in for Miller at right guard and earned a PFF pass-blocking grade of 0.0, which is pretty awful.
There is some good news in Carolina as Cameron Erving could return to left tackle this week. Matt Rhule wasn't as optimistic about Juston Burris or Shaq Thompson.
Cornerback Stephon Gilmore could also make his 2021 debut after opening the season on the PUP list.
Chicago Bears
The Bears are the latest team to be hampered by COVID-19. Elijah Wilkinson, Caleb Johnson, and Jimmy Graham all tested positive this weekend.
Perhaps more importantly though, Matt Nagy tested positive on Monday. With his positive test, that's now five players and two coaches added to the reserve/COVID-19 list over the last two weeks for Chicago.
Cincinnati Bengals
Backup running back Chris Evans suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday, but is currently considered day-to-day. The rookie has had success as a pass-catcher, but with Joe Mixon back to full health, there aren't many snaps available to the rest of the backfield.
Cleveland Browns
Nick Chubb is expected to return this week after missing Thursday night's game with a calf injury. With Kareem Hunt still on the IR, Chubb and D'Ernest Johnson should be the top two backs for Cleveland.
On the other side, Baker Mayfield hasn't participated in practice yet while dealing with a shoulder injury. The Browns haven't officially ruled Mayfield out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, but Case Keenum could start his second-straight game after beating the Broncos.
Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott is expected to return to practice on Wednesday after using the bye week to rest his injured calf. Prescott suffered the injury on the final play of the Cowboys' Week 6 win.
Denver Broncos
The Broncos made a move on Monday, trading for Rams linebacker Kenny Young after Curtis Robinson became the eighth Denver linebacker to suffer an injury.
With another former Ram, Micah Kiser, on the IR, Young and Justin Strnad are the only healthy inside linebackers in Denver. Robinson hasn't been ruled out for Week 8, but he is dealing with wrist and thumb injuries.
Detroit Lions
Trey Flowers suffered a knee injury, but he returned to the game and finished with three tackles.
The news isn't so great for rookie cornerback A.J. Parker, who is expected to miss time with a shoulder injury. Parker has been the Lions' slot cornerback all season and has struggled, allowing 18 completions for 218 yards on 21 targets.
The Lions don't really have a natural replacement on their active roster, although Nickell Robey-Coleman is on their practice squad and has played slot almost exclusively during his career.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers have a short turnaround before their game against the Cardinals on Thursday night, but the big news in Green Bay is Davante Adams landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday afternoon.
Adams has 744 receiving yards this season, over 500 more than any other wide receiver on the Packers roster. Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb should see a higher target share, although keep an eye on Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who is eligible to return from the IR.
Houston Texans
Tyrod Taylor is expected to return this week, which would be a huge boost for a Texans offense that has scored just five touchdowns since he was hurt in Week 2.
Houston's only win this season came with Taylor at the helm and it has scored over 10 points just once in the five games since he was injured.
Indianapolis Colts
T.Y. Hilton is expected to play next week after missing Week 7 with a quad injury.
The veteran wide receiver returned to the lineup in Week 6 after undergoing neck surgery in the preseason and caught four passes for 80 yards. With Parris Campbell sidelined with a foot injury, the Colts could use Hilton's speed to stretch the field for Carson Wentz.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars had a bye in Week 7 and don't have any new injuries to report after the week off.
Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes avoided a concussion on his scary collision Sunday. Mahomes is expected to play in Week 8 against the Giants without any limitations.
Las Vegas Raiders
Darren Waller was inactive due to an ankle injury on Sunday. The tight end injured his ankle on Friday and was unable to go against the Eagles. However, Foster Moreau started in his place and had a solid game, catching all six of his targets for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Josh Jacobs is dealing with a chest contusion that kept him out of the second half of Vegas's win. However, Rich Bisaccia didn't sound too concerned about his prognosis.
The Raiders have a bye in Week 8.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers had a bye in Week 7 and don't have any new injuries to report after the week off.
Los Angeles Rams
Robert Rochell strained his knee on Sunday and will be limited in practice this week. However, the rookie is likely to suit up at cornerback on Sunday.
Left tackle Andrew Whitworth is also dealing with a knee injury and the Rams are expected to be extra cautious with his participation this week. Whitworth never practices on Wednesdays, so we'll have to wait for Thursday's practice report to get an idea on how he's feeling.
Joseph Noteboom did play one snap in relief of Whitworth against the Lions.
Miami Dolphins
Jason McCourty is expected to be added to the IR after suffering a foot injury against Atlanta. The veteran safety had seen his snaps dwindle in recent weeks with the emergence of second-round rookie Jevon Holland.
Running back Malcolm Brown is also headed to the IR due to a quad injury he sustained against the Falcons. Brown is second on the team in rushing behind Myles Gaskin and his absence could lead to a larger role for Salvon Ahmed.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings had a bye in Week 7 and don't have any new injuries to report after the week off.
New England Patriots
Harvey Langi got his first start of 2021 on Sunday, but the linebacker sprained his MCL after just five snaps. Langi has played just 16 snaps of defense this year, but has been a big part of the Patriots special teams.
Cornerback Jonathan Jones underwent season-ending shoulder surgery. In his absence, Myles Bryant was the slot corner against the Jets, allowing two catches for 19 yards.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints did get left tackle Terron Armstead and center Erik McCoy back in the starting lineup on Monday night, but left guard Andrus Peat left the game in the first half with a shoulder injury.
Peat never returned and was replaced by Calvin Throckmorton.
New York Giants
Lorenzo Carter suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, although he was healthy enough to celebrate the win with his team. Joe Judge hasn't given an update on his status.
Jabrill Peppers is dealing with ankle and knee injuries. Judge told reporters that the safety is visiting with doctors to get further evaluation after being injured on a punt return.
The Giants also didn't have any updates on Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, or Kadarius Toney.
New York Jets
Zach Wilson will miss at least two weeks after suffering a sprained PCL against the Patriots. The Jets made a move on Monday, trading a conditional sixth-round pick to the Eagles for Joe Flacco.
Flacco spent 2020 with the Jets and started four games for New York, going 0-4 and completing a career-low 55% of his passes. Flacco and Mike White are the only healthy quarterbacks on the Jets roster.
White threw his first 32 NFL passes in relief of Wilson on Sunday, completing 20 for 202 yards. He also threw a pair of interceptions.
Philadelphia Eagles
Miles Sanders is dealing with an ankle sprain and is considered “week-to-week.” The Eagles finished the game against the Raiders with Kenny Gainwell and Boston Scott splitting carries.
Philadelphia also has veteran Jordan Howard on the practice squad so he could be an option to join the active roster while Sanders is out.
Lane Johnson was also unable to finish the game, but Nick Sirianni called his absence precautionary.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers had a bye in Week 7 and don't have any new injuries to report after the week off.
San Francisco 49ers
Rookie QB Trey Lance is expected to join the team at practice on Wednesday as he recovers from his knee injury. However, it seems like Jimmy Garoppolo will still start against the Bears in Week 8.
The 49ers had two defensive starters suffer concussions on Sunday. Both Dee Ford and Azeez Al-Shaair will have to advance through protocol before they can return to the field.
One player who won't be returning soon is safety Jaquiski Tartt, who is dealing with a knee injury. Expect rookie Talanoa Hufanga to start next to Jimmie Ward in Tartt's absence.
Seattle Seahawks
Marquise Blair suffered a significant knee injury on Monday night, according to Pete Carroll. Third-year safety Ugo Amadi could step up into a starting role during Blair's expected absence. Amadi has played at least 25 defensive snaps in six of the Seahawks' seven games this season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Richard Sherman could return this week after missing Week 7 with a hamstring injury. His replacement, Dee Delaney, suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, but said after the game that he should also be ready for Week 8.
Offensively, the Bucs played without Antonio Brown or Rob Gronkowski. While Bruce Arians was hopeful about Gronkowski's availability this week, he didn't mention Brown's name while discussing the potential returning players.
Tennessee Titans
Kendall Lamm suffered an ankle injury in the blowout win over the Chiefs. Already filling in for the injured Taylor Lewan at left tackle, Lamm was replaced by Bobby Hart, who allowed two quarterback hits.
Lamm is expected to be fine this week and should start at left tackle again if Lewan remains unable to play. Lamm earned an offensive grade of 83.2 from PFF for his efforts against Kansas City.
Washington Football Team
Ryan Fitzpatrick will have another MRI on his injured hip in two weeks, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Fitzpatrick hasn't played since the season opener and despite a reported 6-8 week recovery time, waiting another two weeks for an MRI would push him past that window.
Barring any trades before the deadline next Tuesday, it looks like it will remain the Taylor Heinicke show in Washington for the foreseeable future.
