Why You Should Bet the Over: Ravens Win Total in 2023

#1 Reason to Bet the Over:

Lamar Jackson signed his long-term contract and is healthy after disappearing for the final stretch of the season two years in a row.

The Ravens have a .722 winning percentage over the last four seasons in games that Jackson has started. That only trails Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Aaron Rodgers over that span.

#2 Reason to Bet Over:

The Ravens added a first-round pick in Zay Flowers and a future hall of famer who is 100% healthy in Odell Beckham.

Without a doubt, this will be the best receiving core Jackson has played with in his career. The Ravens also welcomed Todd Monken to town as the new play caller. The offensive line is among the league’s best five-man units.

The Ravens invested significant money and draft capital into the offense.

#3 Reason to Bet Over:

Jason Tucker is an elite kicker, but kicking a career-high 43 field goals last season was not ideal.

The Ravens were the third-worst team in the red zone with a 45.8% touchdown rate, a 14.9% drop from the previous season.

In the first twelve weeks with Jackson under center, the Ravens had a 51.2% touchdown rate. The Ravens should score more touchdowns this season with improved red zone efficiency.

Why You Should Bet the Under: Ravens Win Total in 2023

#1 Reason to Bet the Under:

The Ravens are projected to have the most challenging schedule of all the AFC North teams and the league’s 12th-most difficult schedule overall.

Last season, the Ravens finished with a 2-6 record against teams with a winning record. This year, the Ravens play 12 games against teams with a win total of over 8.5.

#2 Reason to Bet the Under:

As a result of much better health, the Ravens defense improved from 28th in Football Outsiders’ DVOA in 2021 to seventh in 2022.

The defense still has some questions, and it will be tested by the third-most difficult projected schedule of offenses in terms of efficiency.

The Ravens created a 30% pressure rate on opposing quarterbacks, the fifth-lowest rate in the league last season. The defensive line has also yet to replace Justin Houston, who racked up 9.5 sacks as a 33-year-old last season.
