Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Geno Smith: It definitely wasn’t clean for Geno this week against Carolina, but he still did get there for fantasy.
Smith completed a season-low 58.3% of his passes while throwing multiple interceptions in a game for the first time this season. He was able to overcome those elements to still closed as the QB8 (20.6 points) as he threw for three touchdowns while adding 20 yards on the ground. Smith now has thrown multiple touchdown passes in each of his past seven games and in 11-of-13 games this season.
Smith now has 25 passing touchdowns on the year after throwing 34 passing touchdowns over his first eight years in the league.
One of the two games that Smith did not throw a touchdown pass this season was back in Week 2 against the 49ers. Smith closed that game as the QB30 (6.1 points), completing 24-of-30 passes for 197 yards (6.6 Y/A) with an interception.
The 49ers have allowed just two QB1 scoring weeks this season while allowing 6.6 yards per pass attempt (seventh) and a 2.7% touchdown rate (second) to opposing passers on their way to allowing just 10.9 passing points per game.
The Seahawks are unlikely to run the ball well here which can aid volume. Smith has been productive so far to where we do not have to throw the baby out with the bath water, but he is more of a fringe QB1 and a better 2QB start than someone that can provide us a ceiling we are looking for this time of the fantasy season.
