  • Tennessee raised their play-action rate to 31.1% in Week 2 after 11.6% in Week 1. With the use of play-action, Ryan Tannehill was 9-of-12 for 162 yards (13.5 Y/A).
  • The Colts are allowing a league-high 0.82 passing points per attempt through two games.
  • Indianapolis is allowing 14.4 yards per completed pass, 31st in the league.
  • The Titans are allowing a league-high 14.7 yards per completed pass.
  • Entering this season, Derrick Henry received four or more targets in just three career games. He has started the year with four targets in each of the opening two games.

Quarterback

Ryan Tannehill: Tannehill and the Tennessee passing game found some footing last week after a nightmare outing in Week 1. We saw the team get back to using play-action passing and Tannehill throw for 347 yards and 8.7 yards per pass attempt. Unfortunately, he did not throw a touchdown pass, which kept him down as the QB23 (14.6 points).

This week, the Titans draw a Colts defense that has struggled to stop the pass to open the season. They have faced Matthew Stafford and Russell Wilson, but the Colts have allowed those passers to throw for 10.0 yards per pass attempt (29th), complete 69.8% of their passes (21st), and an 11.3% touchdown rate (30th). Tannehill can be an efficient passer like those options, but there is a potential volume issue surely in place should the Colts be without Carson Wentz.

In three starts against the Colts with the Titans, Tannehill has also not been electric, finishing as the QB19, QB18, and QB7, throwing for 182, 147, and 221 yards on 27 or fewer passes in all three meetings.

The Colts have been bad enough to open the season to keep Tannehill as a high-end QB2 and give him one more week if you opened the season with him as your starter, but he will have to be efficient with his opportunities if the Colts are limited offensively due to Wentz missing the game.
