Every Sunday in the weekly fantasy chats, I get asked about my favorite plays of the week or who is my player pool that weekend for DFS.
This article series covers exactly that.
I will go through the players I am targeting as core plays for all formats and will cover tournament plays and games to target for stacks in other posts.
The idea is that this will paint a clearer picture of framing lineups.
Week 3 DFS Content:
Our core players are the players that we will have the most exposure to in their positions. They can be played in cash games and tournaments.
Week 2 was a solid week in which our core players anchored lineups for our tournament picks to click. Let’s keep that train moving this weekend.
I will have some analysis on the player selections and game writeups, but check out the Week 3 Worksheet for a fully detailed breakdown of the players and games.
Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes ($8,300 DraftKings/$9,200 FanDuel)
You really do not need me to tell you that Mahomes is a good option at home against the Bears, but with the way this slate is shaping up from a team-building perspective, the field is not projecting to play him heavily.
Gamers are going to be drawn into allocating their salary for high-priced wide receivers while orbiting the Chargers at Vikings for a lot of core assets.
That alone makes Mahomes a player to go overweight on this weekend. We do not get a lot of opportunities where Mahomes is potential leverage.
Chicago has allowed 25-plus points in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season, the second-longest streak ever (13 games), which was set over the 1963-1964 seasons.
Through two games, the Bears have allowed both Jordan Love (9.1 Y/A) and Baker Mayfield (9.3 Y/A) to throw for over 9.0 yards per pass attempt while surrendering a 6.6% touchdown rate (30th).
Mahomes has also kept up his rushing output from a year ago, rushing for 45 and 30 yards in each game to open the year.
