Bust = down-week production for that player’s standards
Quarterback
Jalen Hurts: We have seen the Eagles take the air out of the football and ask Hurts to caretake the past two weeks, throwing the ball on a league-low 29% of plays outside of the fourth quarter. The next closest team over that span is the Bears at 44%.
Facing the Lions and Chargers played into the success of that approach, but if the Eagles are able to sustain things moving forward, then Hurts turns into a Tayson Hill type of floor option. We will see if they can operate in the same capacity. Denver is not elite against the run, ranking 14th in EPA in rushing defense and 23rd in DVOA but are better than the past two opponents the Eagles have faced.
The other bad news is that Denver is strong against the pass, ranking fourth in points allowed per attempt (0.38) and fifth in passing points allowed per game (12.9). Denver even held Lamar Jackson to just 28 yards rushing when he has had over 50 yards rushing in every other game this season. Between the reduced emphasis on passing and the matchup, Hurts is more of a QB2 option this week.
