Quarterback
Desmond Ridder: Ridder’s real-life game and fantasy one were disconnected last week.
He completed just 59.6% of his passes for 6.5 yards per pass attempt with three interceptions, but he also threw for 307 yards, two touchdowns, and added 18 rushing yards to bolster a solid fantasy game.
Paired with an ultra-depressed scoring week across the league, Ridder was able to land a QB10 (16.1 points) scoring week.
In part because of Ridder’s play, the Falcons have trailed so much this season that their hand has been forced to throw the football more.
They are still throwing the ball 8% below expectations and are 15th in dropbacks per game (38.7), but through game scripts, they have 67 more dropbacks than at this point from a year ago.
The Buccaneers have not been a poor defense.
They are middle of the pack in allowing 6.9 yards per pass attempt (15th) and are ninth in passing points allowed per attempt (0.337), even factoring in Jared Goff’s good game from a week ago.
The Bucs are blitzing at the third-highest rate in the league (38.8%) but are 25th in pressure rate overall (31.2%) and 26th in pressure rate when they do blitz (37.3%).
When kept clean, Ridder is completing 69.5% of his passes for 7.1 y/A with five of his six touchdown passes.
When pressured, Ridder is completing 48.1% of his passes for 5.9 Y/A with one touchdown.
Ridder is still not a strong streamer in 1QB leagues on the road with a low team total, leaving him as a QB2.
