- The Panthers lead the league in point differential in the first quarter of games (+49 points) but are 26th in the league in point differential quarters 1-3 (-60 points).
- Only the Texans (-0.13) are averaging fewer expected points per pass attempt than the Panthers (-0.09).
- Cam Newton is 5-of-15 passing (33.3%) with an interception and just two first downs on third down pass attempts.
- The Panthers have had just five different players catch a touchdown pass this season, the fewest in the league.
- Just 31.2% of Matt Ryan's pass attempts have come on first down, ahead of only Tyrod Taylor (28.7%).
- Matt Ryan is fifth in the league in first down or touchdown pass rate on third down pass attempts (46.6%).
Quarterback
Matt Ryan: Ryan has not had that poor of a season under the hood of the circumstances he has been placed this season, but that does not help us much for fantasy purposes. Ryan has 25.1 total fantasy points over the past four weeks and has finished higher than QB19 in one of his past six starts after Calvin Ridley left the team in Week 8.
The first time these teams played in Week 8, Ryan posted 6.1 fantasy points. That is a low bar to clear for a better performance in the rematch, but with his low output and the Panthers allowing 12.4 passing points per game (third), it is hard to handle Ryan as more than a back-end 2QB play for fantasy.
