Tight end is a have/have not fantasy position, but we do get five of the top-10 scoring tight end scorers on the season in the playoff pool in Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Mark Andrews, Jared Cook, and Dallas Goedert. Six if Zach Ertz is active come Sunday. I did rank Ertz for cosmetic purposes, but he would not be an option I would pursue to open things up as even if he plays, he should have limitations.
Travis Kelce and George Kittle were two of three tight ends to have over 1,000-yard seasons while Mark Andrews led the position with 10 touchdowns. All three also come along with the three best odds to make the Super Bowl.
Jared Cook has the next highest odds and is playing on Wild Card weekend. Cook only has 12 total targets over his past four games, but has shown his scoring value by catching seven touchdowns over his past eight games played with Drew Brees while averaging a career-high 16.4 yards per catch this season.
The other option capable of scoring points early on is Dallas Goedert, especially if Ertz remains sidelined. Goedert has 12 and 10 targets the past two weeks (27.5% of the team targets), posting lines of 9-91-1 and 4-65-0.
There’s a massive tier drop after Goedert. Everyone else carries a low floor, while you’re hoping to just catch a touchdown reception from your option down the line.
This is where I decided to stick Taysom Hill, because it’s the only spot where he has actual tangible value. If he’s only available at quarterback in your pool, then there’s no real juice to get from that spot. Hill has multiple rushing attempts in each of his past five games, but he has just one rushing touchdown this season. Where he’s made his most value is as a receiver. Hill has a catch in each of the last 10 games with five touchdowns over that span, but has had more than two catches just once this season.
