Each week we'll be using the tools available at Sharp Football Stats to find the best stacks for DFS rosters.
Stacking was a bit of a mixed bag for Week 2. Our game stack went a little sideways, even though the Rams held up their end of the bargain. Despite the tough matchup, our Kyler Murray–Christian Kirk stack put up nearly 40 combined points, a stack used in just 0.49% of lineups in the Millionaire Maker. This week we have a couple of huge favorites and plenty of injuries to unlock some value.
Game Stack
It seems silly, but Patrick Mahomes ($7,600) is a value even as the most expensive QB on the slate. Last week we saw how easily he can string points together when Mahomes threw for 278 yards and four touchdowns…in the second quarter alone. With the highest total on the board, you should be considering rolling out Mahomes or Lamar Jackson ($7,000) in at least some of your lineups this week.
I’m hopping on the Mecole Hardman ($5,000) train. He’s the least expensive of the KC WR trio. The Chiefs have run 70% out of 11 Personnel so we know that Hardman and Demarcus Robinson ($5,200) will be on the field plenty. Hardman had a long touchdown called back last week and had just as many targets as Robinson.
If you’re stacking the Ravens instead, it’s becoming harder and harder to ignore Mark Andrews ($4,600). Through two weeks, Andrews has seen 17 targets and has been used all over the field. Jackson has shown a desire to get the ball in the hands of the TE as he has seen the best market share of anyone at his position. When targeting Andrews, Jackson has a 158.0 passer rating.
Traditional Stack
Atlanta travels to Indianapolis after evening their record at 1-1 last weekend. They are 2-point underdogs in a game that seems like it could be close throughout. Through the first two weeks, the Falcons have thrown at the fifth-highest rate (70%) when the game has been within a score.
Julio Jones ($7,300) is always in play, obviously…but that isn’t where I’m going this week. Calvin Ridley ($5,300) is just far too cheap. He’s 25th in DK Salary this week but is the WR11 through two weeks. Ridley’s been used all over the field and has picked up right where he left off last year.
The Colts defense has shown some weakness in the short-right zone and on deep throws to all parts of the field. Luckily for Ridley (and us), that’s where he’s done most of his damage.
Cheap Stack
The Eagles are down a couple of pass-catchers this week which opens up some value for us. They are home favorites by nearly a touchdown over the Detroit Lions. Nelson Agholor ($3,600) saw a huge bump in usage this past week as DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery weren’t even targeted by Carson Wentz ($5,600) against Atlanta.
It’s extremely rare to get a receiver under $4,000 that can actually push for 7-10 targets in a game. When the game has been within a score, the Eagles have still been relatively pass-happy. The Eagles have thrown 66% of the time in that script. Even if the game plays out the way Vegas believes it will, there will be plenty of chances for Agholor to be involved.
If you’re interested in making this a game stack, the Philadelphia secondary has, shall we say, left a bit to be desired. So far, they’ve given up six receiving touchdowns and allowed 100+ passer rating in four-of-six receiving zones.
Kenny Golladay ($6,600) is priced up a bit in this matchup. He’s seen 19 targets already this season and while he didn’t do much in Arizona during Week 1, Golladay blew up last week against Los Angeles. He turned nine targets into an 8/117/1 line at just 2.4% ownership. We can expect the ownership to go up this week, but as part of this game stack, we’ll still wind up with a unique lineup.
