Quarterback

Jaguars QB: Just as Trevor Lawrence was ramping up and having his best stretch of the season for fantasy, he suffered an ankle injury on Monday night that puts his availability in jeopardy for Sunday.

We will follow the status of Lawrence throughout the week.

Should Lawrence be active with a high-ankle sprain, he would carry a lot of risk playing limited or suffering furthering injury. Lawrence has had four rushing touchdowns over the past three weeks, something we would not bank on coming with his injury.

If Lawrence cannot play, C.J. Beathard will make his first start since Week 17 of the 2020 season in San Francisco.

Beathard made 12 starts in San Francisco. His teams posted a 2-10 record in those games, with Beathard completing 58.6% of his passes for 6.9 Y/A with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

He did average 18.3 rushing yards per game in those starts.

Beathard was 9-of-10 passing for 63 yards in relief of Lawrence on Monday night.

Cleveland has been a waning defense due to injuries, but this is not a matchup on the road that we want to be aggressive with using a backup quarterback or a limited version of Lawrence.

The Browns did allow a QB8 (22.9 points) week to Matthew Stafford on Sunday, but it was the first QB1 scoring week they have allowed all season to a quarterback without a rushing touchdown.

Stafford still only completed 59.5% of his passes. Cleveland has not allowed a 60% completion rate in a game since Week 8.
