  • The Giants are allowing 38.8 yards per possession, 31st in the league.
  • Carolina is allowing 24.3 yards per possession, second in the league.
  • 25.2% of the Carolina rushing attempts have failed to gain yardage, the highest rate in the league.
  • Carolina is allowing 4.7 sacks plus turnovers per game, 30th in the league.
  • The Giants have converted 12.5% of their red zone plays into touchdowns, the lowest rate in the league.
  • The Giants are averaging 1.2 red zone touchdowns per game, 31st in the league.
  • Daniel Jones is 6-of-22 (27.3%) inside of the red zone, the lowest rate for all passers with double-digit red zone targets.

Quarterback

Sam Darnold: Darnold has averaged 4.8 yards per pass attempt and 5.0 Y/A the past two games while completing 56.8% and 41.5% of his passes. Last week’s inefficient game was not entirely his fault as Carolina pass catchers were credited with eight dropped passes last week. Even with those factored in, Darnold still managed to be the QB16 (15.1 points) since he added 48 rushing yards. 35.4% of Darnold’s points on the season have stemmed via rushing, which is fifth in the league. Darnold has just one game finishing lower than QB16 on the season.

The Giants have struggled defensively to open the year, ranking 27th in points allowed per pass attempt (0.54), 32nd in completion rate (73.8%), and 23rd in yards allowed per pass attempt (7.9 Y/A) to passers. Darnold has lived a bit on fragile rushing production, but he has shown a high floor and has a favorable matchup to go back to a floor-based option as a front-half QB2.
