- The Patriots had 4 passing plays of 20 or more yards in Week 6 (tied for sixth in the league) after a league-low 6 passing plays of 20 or more yards in Weeks 1 through 5.
- The Jaguars have converted 15.2% fewer third downs than their opponents in their games, 31st in the league and ahead of only the Panthers (-15.8%).
Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Trevor Lawrence: After ending last week as QB15 (17.1 points), Lawrence has logged only one QB1 scoring week on the season.
While we have lacked spike weeks, Lawrence has held a steady floor for 2QB gamers.
He has ended just one week lower than QB19.
Lawrence has thrown multiple touchdown passes in three straight games.
Lawrence will sit in that floor-based QB2 range this week, but this is a solid spot for him to hold a high floor.
The Patriots have been middle-of-the-pack defensively against the pass.
They are 16th in passing points allowed per attempt (0.403) and 17th in passing points allowed per game (13.3).
They have allowed front-half scoring weeks to Geno Smith (17.9 points), Aaron Rodgers (21.0 points), Brock Purdy (14.6 points), and C.J. Stroud (18.4 points) over their past five games. The only passer they locked up was Tyler Huntley.
The Patriots are 26th in pressure rate (29.8% of dropbacks).
Drake Maye: In his first NFL start, Maye was already an improvement from what we got from this passing game under Jacoby Brissett.
Maye was QB12 (19.5 points) after Brissett failed to end a week higher than QB24.
Maye threw 3 touchdown passes after Brissett only tossed 2 through five weeks.
Maye did have 3 turnovers but made up some of that lost ground by rushing for 38 yards.
Where Maye ran into trouble was under pressure, completing a league-low 33.3% of his passes under pressure in Week 6 for 4.3 yards per attempt.
He also took a sack on a league-high 40.0% of his pressures last week.
From a clean pocket, Maye completed 66.7% of his throws for 8.0 Y/A with an 11.1% touchdown rate.
He averaged 8.0 air yards per attempt from a clean pocket compared to 2.5 air yards per pass under pressure.
The Jaguars are 27th in the league in pressure rate (28.7%) and blitz at the second-lowest rate (15.2%).
When this defense has not gotten pressure, it has been carved up.
Jacksonville has allowed a 73.9% completion rate (25th), 8.3 Y/A (28th), and a 6.1% touchdown rate (26th) to passers from a clean pocket.
It is doubtful that many gamers need to push Maye as a streamer in 1QB formats, but this matchup offers plenty of appeal for Maye as a matchup-based QB2 and streamer.
The Jaguars have allowed a QB1 scorer in every game this season which includes allowing the QB1 overall last week to Caleb Williams (28.6 points), Deshaun Watson (15.4 points), and Joe Flacco (26.6 points).
