Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Derek Carr: Carr played poorly last week and the coaching staff compounded matters with an egregious game plan that ended up costing the Raiders the game last week. Carr closed last week as the QB29 (2.6 points) in a week where there were six teams on bye. He completed just 55% of his passes and failed to throw a touchdown pass for the first time since Week 8. For good measure, Carr also threw a horrendous red zone interception, an area of the field that has been problematic for him and the Raiders all season.
Carr also threw just 20 passes as the Raiders had a pass rate 20% below expectation, the lowest rate in a game this season. That is how you keep the back door open.
The Raiders are supposedly going to get both Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow back this week. Carr only has 52 total dropbacks with those two and Davante Adams on the field this season. On that small sample, Carr is 31-of-48 (64.6%) with 8.1 Y/A.
Getting all of his weapons back gives Carr some upside, but this also is a tough matchup to handle Carr as more than a higher-end QB2. The Patriots are allowing 6.7 yards per pass attempt (ninth) and 0.368 passing points per attempt (ninth). Carr is 0-3 in his career against the Patriots, averaging 5.8 yards per pass attempt in those games.
