- Washington is a league-best 5-0 against the spread as a favorite.
- The Commanders have scored on a league-high 60.7% of their drives. The next closest team (Baltimore) is at 51.0%.
- The Steelers have scored on 45.9% of their possessions, which is sixth in the league.
- Washington averages a league-high 3.05 points per drive.
- The Steelers allow 1.40 points per drive, second in the NFL.
- Washington allows 2.30 points per drive, 26th in the league.
- Washington games average 306.9 combined rushing yards per game, the most in the NFL.
- Washington is 26th in red zone conversion rate (51.2%) while Pittsburgh is 30th (46.4%).
- Pittsburgh has allowed a league-low 37.5% (9-of-24) red zone conversion rate.
- The Steelers have scored a touchdown on a league-low 50% (7-of-14) of their goal-to-go possessions.
Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Jayden Daniels: Daniels kept up the strong start to his rookie season on Sunday, completing 15-of-22 (68.2%) passes for 209 yards (9.5 Y/A) with 2 touchdowns, adding 35 rushing yards.
Daniels has played eight complete games, closing as a QB1 scorer in seven.
His lowest week on the season is a QB15 finish.
Daniels has had as favorable a schedule as any quarterback in the NFL, facing just one pass defense that ranks in the top 15 in passing points allowed per attempt.
That was the Bears, who made him complete a season-low 55.3% of his passes and need a Hail Mary to get over completely for a QB11 scoring week (22.2 points).
I bring that up because the Steelers are fifth in passing points allowed (0.335 per attempt).
Pittsburgh has not allowed a QB1 scoring week this season.
Their schedule has not been overly pressing, either.
Bo Nix is the best fantasy quarterback they have faced from a points-per-game stance.
This will be an equally good test for parties.
I respect the Pittsburgh defense.
I believe they are not a complete product of their schedule, and I believe the same with Daniels.
This is not a week I would expect a front-end score, but Daniels has enough efficiency and rushing ability to remain in play as a QB1.
Russell Wilson: Wilson has finished as QB3 (24.9 points) and QB21 (13.8 points) in his two starts with the Steelers.
He has thrown for 264 and 278 yards with 9.1 and 9.9 yards per pass attempt. The variance in scores stems from his rushing touchdown in Week 7 and an extra passing touchdown.
From a passing point perspective, Wilson has been on the QB2 spectrum.
He can add rushing and turn in QB1 scoring weeks when he runs hot with touchdowns, but Wilson is a floor-based QB2.
Although Wilson has only made two starts, he has not fully become the all-or-nothing passer he was with Denver last season.
After throwing a career-high 30.2% of his passes at or behind the line of scrimmage last season, that rate is only 14.0% in his two games.
While throwing more passes beyond the line of scrimmage, Wilson has attempted a lower rate of passes 10-plus (21.1%), 15-plus (17.5%), and 20-plus (12.3%) yards downfield than a year ago.
Wilson has completed only 6 of 17 (35.3%) passes for 7.7 yards per attempt when pressured.
When kept clean, he has completed 30-of-40 (75.0%) passes for 10.3 Y/A.
That is relevant here as Washington has climbed to fifth place in the pressure rate (38.2%) after ranking second in pressure rate over their past six games (42.7%).
When Washington created pressure over that span, they allowed a 52.2% completion rate and 6.7 Y/A.
That said, Daniel Jones found success last week without pressure.
When he was kept clean, he still did the Daniel Jones thing, with 5.7 Y/A, but he completed 17 of 22 passes with a touchdown.
Jones ended with 14.9 passing points, the most against Washington since Week 3.
All that is saying is that Wilson is not completely drawing dead here regarding upside.
Washington did add Marshon Lattimore to the back end of their defense at the trade deadline to boost their secondary play for when they fail to get home with their pass rush.
