NFL Showdown is not about who you play as much as how you play them.
Median projections are a tool in the toolbox, but they are to be trusted far less than they would be on the main slate. This is because of the large ramifications associated with a single player underproducing or overproducing relative to their projection.
The most likely outcome is only one of infinite outcomes.
When ownership dictates that the field has the game figured out, lean into builds around a different scenario.
The term “any given Sunday” should be the mantra for successfully building Showdown lineups.

Slate Breakdown
The New England Patriots are heading to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers as 6-point underdogs. The total is set at 30.
This is the lowest total I recall, but there’s still a 6-point home favorite with a plethora of sound options.
The Steelers are far more projectable, albeit more expensive across the board.
With so many injuries to the Patriots, they provide multiple quality one-offs to bring back in Pittsburgh-heavy builds.

New England Patriots Offense
Tier 1 DFS Showdown Plays:
Bailey Zappe $9,000 –
Zappe is more expensive than his recent start would warrant, but with such a low total, he could find his way into the optimal lineup with just one passing touchdown. He did add 16 yards on the ground in Week 13, but he had not rushed for a single yard in any other outing.
