- Rushing Duo: The Buckeyes can run the ball too with backs TreVeyon Henderson (967 yards and 10 touchdowns) and Quinshon Judkins (960 yards and 12 touchdowns) both producing strong numbers.
- Notre Dame’s Man Disadvantage: The Fighting Irish have the No. 2 scoring defense in the nation, but their strategy of playing man coverage could be deadly against this receiving corps. Also, top pass rusher Rylie Mills (7.5 sacks) is out with an injury, dealing another blow to the defense in this matchup.
Notre Dame’s Offense vs. Ohio State’s Defense
- Dual Threat: Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard finished second on the team with 866 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns this season. His legs will have to be a threat in this game.
- Lack of Receivers: While Ohio State is loaded at receiver, the Irish are led by Jaden Greathouse, who has a great name, but he’s only chipped in 464 yards as this offense did not produce a 500-yard receiver in 2024.
- Stop the Run: Ohio State allows an NCAA-low 12.2 points per game and ranks No. 1 in adjusted rushing yards per carry allowed. Only two teams allowed fewer rushing yards per game than the Buckeyes (89.9), which will have to continue to slow down the Notre Dame running game that averages 210.8 yards per game on the ground.
